Everything you need to know about Flaked Epoxy.

Introduction to Flaked Epoxy

Flaked (or chipped) epoxy is the go to choice for homeowners who actually use their garage. The textured surface hides dust, dirt, and tire marks while adding serious grip. All in a color blend that pulls the whole space together.

What is Flaked Epoxy?

Multi size vinyl color flakes are broadcast into a freshly poured epoxy basecoat, then locked in under one or two clear topcoats. The result is a thick, mechanically bonded system that's part decorative, part industrial workhorse.

Why choose Flaked Epoxy?

  • Built in slip resistance: The flake texture adds natural traction. Safer for wet feet, oil drips, and snow runoff.

  • Hides imperfections: Tire marks, minor concrete cracks, and dirt all disappear into the speckled pattern.

  • Color flexibility: Dozens of standard blends or fully custom mixes to match your home, brand, or vehicle.

  • Chemical resistant: Shrugs off motor oil, brake fluid, road salt, battery acid, and household cleaners.

Best for

  • Working garages and workshops
  • Mudrooms, laundry rooms, and entryways
  • Commercial kitchens and breweries
  • Veterinary clinics and pet spaces

How a Flaked Epoxy install runs

Four days. Four steps. One floor done right.

01

Color selection

Pick a stock flake blend or build a custom one. We'll match it to your trim, walls, or cabinets.

02

Surface prep

Diamond grind the slab, fill cracks and spalls, and vacuum everything down to a clean profile.

03

Basecoat & broadcast

Pigmented epoxy goes down, then we broadcast flakes to refusal so the floor is fully saturated.

04

Scrape & clear coat

Loose flakes are scraped back, and two coats of polyaspartic or polyurethane lock everything in.

FAQs

Your questions about Flaked Epoxy, answered.

01How long until I can drive on it?+
Foot traffic in 24 hours, full vehicle traffic in 3 to 5 days depending on temperature.
02Will it crack with my concrete?+
Epoxy is more flexible than concrete, but any future slab movement can telegraph through. We always disclose existing cracks before starting.
03Can you do partial flake or full flake?+
Both. Partial gives a cleaner, more contemporary look; full broadcast is the most durable and forgiving.
04Is it good for hot tires?+
Yes. Our polyaspartic topcoat is fully hot tire pickup resistant, unlike big box DIY kits.
